چکیده

Abstract The steepness of the slopes an open pit mine has a substantial influence on financial return mine. paper proposes novel design methodology where overall steeper pitwalls are employed without compromising safety In current practice, pitwall profiles often planar in cross-section within each rock layer; i.e., profile inclination across layer tends to be constant. Here instead, new geotechnical software, OptimalSlope, is determine optimal depth varying inclination. OptimalSlope seeks solution mathematical optimization problem pitwall, from crest toe, maximized for assigned lithology, properties, and factor (FoS). Bench geometries (bench height, face inclination, minimum berm width) imposed as constraints which bind maximum local sought together with any other such geological discontinuities that may slope failure. obtained always than their counterparts (i.e., exhibiting same FoS) up 8° depending type severity inclinations. copper first carried out employing pitwalls, secondly adopting determined by OptimalSlope. adoption leads 34% higher net present value reductions carbon footprint energy consumption 0.17 Mt CO 2 eq 82.5 million MJ respectively due 15% reduction rockwaste volume.

An Approach to Locate an in Pit Crusher in Open Pit Mines

Transportation costs are a significant part of capital and operating costs of large open pit mines. Cost efficiency and high reliability of in pit crushing and conveying systems compared to conventional truck-shovel system makes it more appealing to be utilized in modern mining activities. In this paper the suitable location of an in pit crusher is investigated as a single hub location problem....

Determination of the largest pit with the non-negative net profit in the open pit mines

The determination of the Ultimate Pit Limit (UPL) is the first step in the open pit mine planning process. In this stage that parts of the mineral deposit that are economic to mine are determined. There are several mathematical, heuristic and meta-heuristic algorithms to determine UPL. The optimization criterion in these algorithms is maximization of the total profit whilst satisfying...

A quantitative model for evaluation and classification of blastings in open-pit mines

By evaluation of the blasting results, a proper blast pattern can be presented. It is, therefore, essential to employ a reliable method to evaluate blastings for the effective control and optimization of the main cycle operations. This paper aims to propose a criterion for evaluating the blasting results such as the fragmentation, muckpile condition, back-break, and fly rock, and to make a poss...

A Genetic Algorithm with Zooming for the Determination of the Optimal Open Pit Mines Layout

Different genetic procedures are applied to increase robustness, namely two typologies of admissible mutations for the elite subpopulation subjected to zooming and mutation and reproduction for the remaining individuals. In order to further improve convergence rate, a user-defined population percentage, depending on individuals fitness, is replaced with new phenotypes, enforcing chromosomic ren...
